This app is nice.. Ive got 5 stars because its not fully optimized for retina display. The resolution is not good.. I hope an updating!
A must have app from the genius of Jordan Rudess. Definitely 5 stars.
its like Bebots big daddy.. perfect if you like apps such as thumbjam.
Keeps crashing on me now after only using it for two days. Wish I could get my money back
Hands down the best musical app @ this price. Jordan Rudess has once again taken music to a whole other dimension and now put it into an app of endless wonder! A must have app for every musical human being!!!!!
Anytime time you try to quick switcch to this app by double tapping the home button, it reverses the screen, so when you touch the left, it acts like youre playing the right. Great app though :D
Im a synth nut, and for me as an ambient electronic music recording artist I find the sounds to be quite nice. Do some sound similar? Yeah, some do, but its not like you cant adjust and alter them a bit. I rarely use presets in anything without mangling them to my liking. Anyway, I like this. Ive skipped MorphWiz many times but now that I finally bought it, I love it. I wish I had sooner, but the bad reviews scared me off. Im finding this to be a very nice and useful app. Its not for rappers, or hip hop. Maybe thats where the negativity comes from? At any rate this is great, its deeper than it looks and fits in great for electronic music types like me. Its not just a novelty.
Ok, it has a lot of great features, however I was disappointed in the sound bank and background screens are just Ok, with the exception of the main one. A little too pricey.
As a Dream Theater fan and a musician, this app is a goldmine of wonderful tones that are true to Jordans very unique sound. And once you have tinkered around with the presets you have a ton of options for creating your own original tones without it being overly complex...as opposed to the Korg iMS-20, which is fun and sounds great, but is extremely difficult to make useable tones with. Get it, you wont be disappointed!!!
Very fun to play and expressive. Makes the device feel like a natural feeling, playable instrument. Would be great with more variety of sounds. Mostly good for solos and riffs. Some of the sounds are not very useful in my opinion. Id like to see them add some more diverse sounds or add midi function. Loses points for primitive recording feature.
This version keeps crashing on my iPad 1.
Great app and a great way to make music once you get the hang of it, but ten bucks is way to much.
Just one thing. If the buttons on the side is displayed at the same place, for any sound, Even blind guys can enjoy this. Please think about it.
A must have for music apps! TheMysticSpirit Paranormal Magician
Incredibly fun to play with, the sounds you can come up with is mindblowing. Kudos Jordan, you guys made a great app.
Im a musician, kinda, and I love morph wiz. Its a lot of fun and after playing it you get the sense that the iPad has the potential to be a unique and very usable new format for creating music. My only issue with morph wiz, like others have mentioned, is that despite being such a unique instrument, it doesnt quite make the cut for real song making. Its also a wee bit overpriced. Some feedback: Instruments like thumb jam and even sound Prizm are great for song making. Id love to see morph wiz put out a second version with some updates. Two of the biggest issues are the lack of usable sound types, and the unfriendly Ui. Please make morph wiz the instrument it could be. It would be awesome to see it reach its full potential! Good work on developing such a unique tool, and people seriously buy Morph Wiz its awesome! Thanks!
Overall, cool app. I love that you can turn note labels on and off, or scale degrees. It would be ideal if you could have the note name and the scale degree on at the same time. The degree of customization, and the looper, are outstanding.
Cool app for sure, but it seems unstable. I dont see how a musician could rely on it. I found that on the iPad 2 in most patches it stalls, and even crashes as soon as you play 4 notes at a time.
For those that complain about the price, just realize that it truly is a full instrument. Its a massive keyboard with the variability of a three hundred dollar piece of tech, and its a full instrument. Once you get the feel for how it works (there are tutorials online) its quite easy to experiment with and play. Some fiddling with your device CAN allow music to play while you use Morphwiz (Dream Theaters Instrumental tracks make wonderful playing fields for improvisations), and the recording feature (as well as re-recording) make all your favorite little melodies easy to show off. Awesome app from an awesome artist. 5 stars forever!
